Shepard's Pie is a family (immediate that is) and Friends Fav - I guess we all don't have to eat pasta and/or rice every meal - HOWever GUESS WHAT WE DO NEED - you guess it - Ensalada and this time Garlic Bread as well to sop up the gravy - HaHaHa
I think I need to buy shares is some produce farm - there isn't a night that we miss Salad, add pecans, walnuts, pears (they are my fav) and apples (omG heavenly)
Guess what else (thats right you guessed it I make one without meat - however compensate with mushrooms and some beans (your choice) and red peppers - all taste great -
Sheppard's Pie
you will needPeel and Boil
5 pounds of Yukon Golds (gotta be) they are buttery and therefore you use less fat and it still has that same creamy buttery effect.
milk
butter
2 pounds ground lean beef
onions
garlic
1 small bag mixed veggies (peas, green beans, carrots)
4 additonal fresh carrots
2 cans of corn or 1 small bag frozen
1 large marble cheese
4 tblsp flour
pinch of oregano
pinch of tyme
pince of rosemary
salt and pepper
hot chili peppers (if you prefer) (We Do Do Do)
Saute beef, when half cooked add onion, garlic. Cook completely then add veggies and saute for 10 minutes. - Pour in 1/2 cup water and then make a flour rue slurry and add to make a gravy
When potates are done make mashed very creamy
When done pour meat and veggies into a lasagna pan - top with mashed potatoes all the way to sides to seal and then top with cheese -
Bake 350 degrees until cheese is bubbling and browning slightly - and then let stand once remove from oven for 1/2 hour covered so that it sets - when you cut into squares it won't blob apart - it will sit and be beautiful on the plate - AND THEN - don't fight over the well done cheese stuck to the sides (thats mine for sure)
guess what - OMG ENSALADA - I really hope you enjoy because we do - (my half Italian kids, hubby, B and my friends) - if you don't join the Italians in my family - Hahaha
with the Veggie Manzy Pie - simply substitute the meat with beans and mushrooms - I also add some red pepper for her -
