Good night for a visit with the Nonno, Nonna and Zia - children always loved when they would visit, chocolate in Nonno's pocket.
Anthony always knew and a few bucks for Amanda or a new pair of biancheria intima or mutundi (underwear).

Now I will tell you how my mother in law explained how to make this cake to me

1 cupa flr
1 cupa oilio
6 eggs
1 spoom of the grow powdr (you know the stufa that maka it grow) HENCE BAKING POWDER THANK GOD I UNDERSTAND HER - i could have put yeast in the cake - Please note there is no need to serve Ensalata with this
My mother in law (nonna) and Sister-in-law (God rest her sole) were sitting around the table (typical I told you) evening. Anthony was sitting with Nonna on the pink chair in the family room watching Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (poor Nonno) watched this so many times I think he was dancing to the song with the swords on his back too.
Anyways - I made expresso and brought it to the table - poured the coffee, cut the cake (my mother-in-laws apple cake) and to my surprise my mother-in-law turns to me and says "Ma Dabbi - why this coffee so sheeeet" - stunned for just a moment deciphering what she just said - when my sister-in-law and I looked at each other and began laughing so hard my father-in-law sighed with relief. There was a moment of tension there when He thought after hearing her comment about this crappy coffee that I would freak out and be upset. Quite the contrary - Nonna makes me laugh most days with her subtle way of saying things (after all she was born it Italy, lived in an Italian speaking home and in a prominent Italian neighbourhood and therefore sometimes doesn't get how things can be translated from her comments). LMAO (yup even at 53 I kow what this means)
